  a bizarre explosion at a church east of kansas city killed one man on saturday afternoon.

  atf agents said the explosion at the jehovah's witness' kingdom hall on foggy bottom drive was intentionally set, and that the person who died appears to have committed suicide.

  witnesses described large amounts of smoke pouring out of the building, which they said was just recently completed.

  Just to clarify, what I wrote to these reporters was more to urge them into considering doing a story about the detrimental effects the WTS has on its members and how this recent tragedy illustrates that.

  I gave them links to freeminds.org, silentlambs.org, sixscreens.

  As for inflaming prejudice, you're probably right and the Kansas City Star (a corporate newspaper in the American Midwest) will probably not want to write anything like a negative JW expose.

  I'll most likely end up contacting The Pitch and see if I can interest them in the story. They have no qualms against pissing anyone off.

  That would be a huge story but I have no idea if any JWs work at the Kansas City Star.

  I think one or two other people from JWD have e-mailed people at the Kansas City Star as well. Either our e-mails are getting eaten up by spam filters, ignored, or the reporters haven't gotten to them yet since they receive hundreds of e-mails a day. The last is most likely IMO.

  I'm e-mailing this reporter. I e-mailed the first reporter from the original story, now I'll try this one.

  I'll also try e-mail the editor of the Kansas City Star.

  If all else fails, I'll get ahold of someone from "The Pitch." The Pitch is an independent newspaper here in the KC area. They usually aren't afraid to handle sensitive stories and investigate things pretty well.

  The only problem is, since they're independent and local, their articles usually don't gain nationwide exposure.

  I haven't heard anything back.

  I guess I'll move on to the editor of the Kansas City Star.

  All I know is, the local qualified male JWs are going in to A-Team mode and plan to swoop in and rebuild the KH as fast as possible.

  I can't believe you think it's cute to teach an innocent child to shun her uncle. She doesn't even comprehend what she is saying. She's just parroting.
  
  Tell me, if when she gets older and does something that is a disfellowshipping offense, will you as her parents shun her as well? Do you realize the devastating effects shunning has on an individual?
  
  I am saddened to see an innocent child being systematically brainwashed. There are some who consider a form of child abuse.

  Resoltions at the cong

  so last night, our cong asked us to pass a resolution.. what i noticed was, the elder reads the resoltion and then asks for everyone in favor, while he is looking down.. all of the dubs just raise their hands, and before even looking up, th elder says, ok, we'll approve this and send it off.. what a joke !!

  why even bother.

  just make the rules and tell them people, don't give them the illusion that they have a say in the matter.

  I e-mailed the reporter. I gave him links to websites like freeminds, silent lambs, six screens, and this board.

  I suggested and urged him to dig a little and maybe write an article about the damage this org. does to people in light of the suicide.

  I haven't heard from him. Crossing my fingers though!
